Join us for Fat (Shrove/Mardi Gras) Tuesday Dinner on March 4 at 6 pm. We are in partnership with the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church to celebrate Fat Tuesday before Lent begins. Fat Tuesday is the last day to use up all the meat, eggs, butter, and other animal fats in the house that you are not going to be eating during the Lenten fast. On this Fat Tuesday, we will eat meats, pancakes, donuts, Polish Pączki, and sweet desserts. Friends of the Holy Apostles will prepare food for this fun night.
Please bring a dessert to share and wear something fun to celebrate Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). So, invite friends and family for this fun Fat Tuesday Dinner here at our church.
What is the meaning behind Fat Tuesday? The French name Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday, from the custom of using all the fats in the home before Lent. Although Shrove Tuesday isn't mentioned in the Bible, it's the day before Lent, which is 40 days of fasting. Lent is said to mark the time Jesus fasted in the desert. The number '40' is significant and appears often in the Bible: Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert.
