OUR PASTOR
Pastor Soon Sun Lee is an ordained pastor in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church for 27 years. She originally came from South Korea in 1988 to study and be an ordained minister.
She is married to Dr. Sung Lee. Sung is currently teaching as a professor at Methodist University in Seoul, South Korea. He is teaching for 20 years on Christian Ethics and Theology. Pastor Soon Sun and Sung live in Crystal Lake with their daughters, Michelle and Heidi.
Michelle is working at the hospital. Heidi is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Pastor Soon Sun has served the very diverse United Methodist Churches of Northern Illinois Conference; Burlington, Dixon: Grace, Harvard, Hebron, First: West Dundee, and Durand United Methodist Churches. She was ordained as a Deacon in 1996 and as an Elder in 1999.
She graduated from Methodist University in Seoul, South Korea, receiving a Bachelor of Theology in Teaching the Bible, and graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston IL where she received a Master of Divinity degree. The following year she received a Master of Theological Studies, also from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Her major was Pastoral Care and Counseling.
Since her teenage years, serving the Lord and helping people have been her great joy and happiness. Prayer has been a strong tool for her faith and ministry.
Her passion (ministry strength and gifts) for pastoral care, story-telling, heart-felt preaching, prayer-centered ministry, and outreach to the community has developed tremendously over the years. Her personal interests include: gardening, visiting botanical gardens, and reading books. She enjoys a cup of tea with people.
